Event Hangout Areas

Over the years, I certainly have observed many attendee behaviors. Simply put, they need a spot to hang out. Starbucks certainly gets that....

Look what my pal Rich sent me today from his commute to his NYC office. I can hear it now..."Let's meet at the LOVE and we will decide where to grab lunch."

Based on on 2006 attendee research done by the good folks at Exhibit Surveys, we learned that our event attendees were thirsty for more attendee networking and casual meeting space. We needed the LOVE.

So with the help of our general contractor, Freeman, we created a wonderful globe which had places to hang out, view videos of biotech innovations around the world and more. On the first day, attendees had agendas to fill so the area was not busy. Staff was worried that our hang out area was a flop. But not me. It happened. When those convention feet were tired, attendees said "meet me at the globe." It worked. The globe helped us create a hangout spot, more networking and a memorable special event.

At the recent BIO International Convention, the BCEC lobby in Boston was just screaming for a special event or gathering spot. The 2006 ASAE Annal Meeting a the BCEC created a living room feel.

Create your space.

p.s. If you want to rent the globe - Freeman has it! Contact Dominick Espisito at Freeman Anaheim office.

"Meet me at the globe." Brilliant. And what a cool, remarkable, memorable way to dress the meeting place. Much better than saying "meet me at that spot with those benches..." I bet the photos were amazing, too.
